Empis — род насекомых двукрылых насекомых (Diptera) из семейства толкунчики подотряда короткоусых (Brachycera). Их размер составляет около 10 мм. Питаются летающими насекомыми, а также нектаром[1] .
Empis и Rhamphomyia, возможно, не являются взаимно монофилетическими, и таксономия нуждается в пересмотре. Существует около 350 видов, большинство из которых обитает в северном полушарии. Содержит следующие подроды и виды:
