Золотая медаль SPIE
Золотая медаль SPIE (англ. SPIE Gold Medal) — высшая награда Общества оптики и фотоники. Награда учреждена в 1977 году. В этот год произошло несколько важных и юбилейных событий в истории Общества оптики и фотоники (2000 членов в обществе, проведено 100 конференций, переезд штаб-квартиры общества), которые решили отметить учреждением новой медали[1]. Награждаются авторы выдающихся теоретических или технических достижений в оптики, электрооптике, фотографии и их приложениях. Вместе с медалью вручается вознаграждение в 10 000 долларов США.
Высшей наградой крупнейшего общества в области оптики[2] награждены три лауреата Нобелевской премии.
