Описание

Описание A depiction of work areas (in red) of trans women prostitutes in the year 2016, in San José, Costa Rica.

This map-data of this image is based on a .SVG-export from OpenStreetMaps, centered ±around this location, although the landmarks have been manually selected; and text has been manually added (but; some abbreviations disregarded; according to the text-strings found on OpenStreetMaps). Some vector lines have been joined and thus simplified. Many details have been removed, colours have changed, and layers have been grouped roughly into types of information.

The highlighting of the work areas (red) is based on an image in the newspaper "La Nación", which appeared in an article entitled Trans lidian con pedradas y balazos cuando ofrecen sexo on 26 June 2016. That article can be found translated into English by a third party (myself) as Transsexuals deal with stones and bullets when they offer sex.

The caption of the original image, I translated as such:

"Zonas de convivencia" [zones of coexistence] in San José. The trans women have defined where they work at night. In red: occupation areas of the transsexual women.

In the remainder of the article, it can be read that one of the trans women prostitutes claimed that these occupation areas should be known by the authorities, and seems to assert that the prostitutes should thus be protected by the authorities in those zones; but laments that this is not happening. The director of the municipal police in San José acknowledged that the prostitutes themselves had chosen those areas many years ago, but said there is no defined (read: official) area for the engagement of prostitution in San José.
