| Описание | In the Boston area, urban planning often followed that of 17th Century England, where the settlers hailed from. Boston Common is one such feature; in English towns, a "common" is a common area of land that the residents could use on a communal basis for agricultural, grazing, and other uses. Boston Common has the distinction of being America's oldest urban park, dating back to 1634. Boston Common is also the southern terminus of the Freedom Trail, which meanders through downtown to connect various historical points of interest. Its northern terminus is across the Charles River at Bunker Hill. The trail is marked with red bricks (as seen here) or with a red painted line. |
